The Aam Aadmi Party has fully supported the Jammu bandh called by the Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, March 11, demanding the repeal of the government's decision to impose property tax. In a statement issued here by the party, it was said that this is not the right time to impose wealth tax.
Attacking the BJP government at the Centre, the party termed the BJP government as anti-poor and anti-development.
The party said that the problems of the common man have increased manifold due to the anti-people policies of the BJP. Unemployment has increased, prices have increased and developmental activities have suffered a lot during the tenure of the BJP government. The party claimed that the BJP government has pushed the state backward in all sectors and no progress has been registered in key sectors like PHE, PDD, R&B, health, education etc. during the last more than eight years.
The BJP has been instrumental in increasing the miseries of the people. The party said that due to the anti-people policies of the BJP and in the atmosphere of uncertainty and political instability, the people of the Union Territory and Jammu region in particular are passing through the most difficult times.

The statement said that the Aam Aadmi Party fully supports the call for Jammu bandh against property tax, unemployment and other anti-people decisions of the government. The people of Jammu region are feeling completely cheated due to BJP leaders failing to represent and address the concerns of the people.
The BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir has miserably failed to live up to the expectations of the people.
The BJP has played with the sentiments of those who brought them to power. The statement said that the AAP Chamber of Commerce and Industry fully supports the Jammu bandh call on Saturday, March 11, demanding cancellation of the property tax order. AAP asked partymen to extend their full cooperation in making the one-day peaceful Jammu bandh on March 11 a success to pressurize the government to revoke the order on imposition of property tax.

The AAP said the government imposed wealth tax without consulting anyone and without taking the business community and general public into confidence, which the AAP completely rejects. The government does not have any concrete policy to give relief to the people and instead of giving relief to the people, the government has imposed property tax which is actually the prerogative of the elected government/municipal corporation and local bodies. The party said that the party believes that it is the prerogative of the elected government and the elected members of the municipal corporations/local bodies to levy such property tax. But the government bypassed the local municipal corporations/local bodies and issued a notification regarding the imposition of property tax in J&K.
